Terms of Service
LAST UPDATED 3 AUGUST 2026
THENU is a marketplace. We arrange services and hold the relationship; independent partners cook, drive and clean. This explains exactly where each responsibility sits — including ours when a partner lets you down.
1. Agreement
By creating a THENU account you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. Who does what
THENU operates a marketplace connecting students with independent partners. The partner performs the service. THENU is responsible for the booking experience, for verifying that partners hold valid trade licences, for handling your money correctly, and for standing between you and the partner when something goes wrong.
We do not hide behind "we are only a platform". If a partner fails to deliver a service you paid for through THENU, your claim is with us. We will resolve it and settle with the partner ourselves. See the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 16, enrolled at or accepted by an educational institution in the UAE, and able to enter a binding contract. One account per person; accounts are not transferable.
4. Bookings and prices
- Prices shown include VAT where applicable. We do not add fees at checkout.
- A booking is confirmed when you receive confirmation in the app.
- Partner service rules — delivery windows, notice periods, off days — are shown before you confirm and form part of your agreement with that partner.
- Where a service requires notice (for example, meal plans require 48 hours), that notice is stated before you commit and enforced by the system.
5. Payment
Depending on the service and the launch stage, you may pay THENU in the app or pay the partner directly. The app tells you which applies before you confirm. Card details are handled by our payment provider and never stored by THENU.
6. Your responsibilities
- Give accurate information — a wrong address or phone number is the most common cause of a failed delivery or a missed pickup.
- Keep your primary contact number current; drivers and kitchens call it.
- Be reachable during the delivery or pickup window you selected.
- Treat partner staff with respect. Abuse toward a driver or delivery person will end your account.
7. What is not allowed
- Reselling THENU services or student pricing.
- Creating multiple accounts to reuse one-time trials or referral credits.
- Using roommate matching or communities to harass, solicit or discriminate.
- Attempting to access another user's data, or probing our systems without written permission.
8. Roommate matching and communities
THENU introduces students to each other. We do not perform background checks and we are not party to any arrangement you make with another student. Meet in public first, and do not send money to someone you have not met. Report anyone who makes you uncomfortable and we will act.
9. Accommodation enquiries
For housing, THENU passes your enquiry to a licensed broker. Any tenancy agreement is between you and the landlord or broker. THENU is not a party to it and does not hold deposits.
10. Third-party offers
Some services — such as mobile plans — are provided by third parties on their own terms, and we may earn a commission when you sign up. That commission never changes the price you pay. See the Refund Policy for who to contact about such services.
11. Liability
We are liable for failures in the service we control and for amounts you paid through THENU. We are not liable for indirect losses — a missed lecture, a missed flight, or consequential costs. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
12. Availability
We may pause ordering or place the app in maintenance mode to protect students during an incident. If this affects a booking you already paid for, that booking is honoured or refunded.
13. Ending the agreement
You may delete your account at any time in Profile → Privacy. We may suspend an account for breach of these terms, fraud, or abuse of partner staff, and will tell you why.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, and the courts of Dubai, United Arab Emirates have jurisdiction.
